INNOVATIVE IDEAS TO INCLUDE IN THE CASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

  • USING COMPLEX EVENT PROCESSING in the CMS

The CMS will make use of complex event processing for investigation purposes.

Complex Event Processing, or CEP, is primarily an event processing concept that deals with the task of processing multiple events with the goal of identifying the meaningful events within the event cloud. CEP employs techniques such as detection of complex patterns of many events, event correlation and abstraction, event hierarchies, and relationships between events such as causality, membership, and timing, and event-driven processes.

The CMS will have subsystems that will have CEP that receives data feeds from other systems throughout the organization.

*STATISTICS

A measurement of how the CMS is performing as well as the number of cases solved/pending.

*ANALYSIST TOOL

This is a software tool that can be used to link the Complex Event Processing to the CMS.

*AUTO-GENERATED FLAGGING

Whenever a suspicious event occurs the CMS will alert the investigators on the suspicious transaction e.g. Refilwe processes 100 unauthorised ID’s.

*AUTO GENERATED OFFICE REPLY

When an employee is out of reach due to issues such as vocational leaves, the CMS will notify the investigators that the employee is not in the office.

*SMS NOTIFICATIONS

The systems can also make use of SMS notification to send notification to different users. The system will be able to send an SMS to an investigator to information relating to a specific case. This function will be optional for any user to avoid inconveniencing the investigator. An SMS notification can be sent to an investigator for the following business event:

When a case is assigned to a specific investigator by the director. When the status of a case that a specific investigator is working on is changed. The system will also use SMS to send reminders to investigator of specific milestone or time restriction of a case. When there are big developments in the investigations of a specific case.

*DIFFERENT USAGE RIGHTS

Use Web 2.0 web Design Technology for information Sharing between investigators.

"Web 2.0" refers to what is perceived as a second generation of web development and web design. It is characterized as facilitating communication, information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design[1] and collaboration on the World Wide Web.

*Key Features of Web 2.0 Technology

  • Search

The ease of finding information through keyword search.

  • Links

Ad-hoc guides to other relevant information.

  • Authoring

The ability to create constantly updating content over a platform that is shifted from being the creation of a few to being constantly updated, interlinked work. In wikis, the content is iterative in the sense that users undo and redo each other's work. In blogs, content is cumulative in that posts and comments of individuals are accumulated over time.

  • Tags

Categorization of content by creating tags: simple, one-word user-determined descriptions to facilitate searching and avoid rigid, pre-made categories.

  • Extensions

Powerful algorithms that leverage the Web as an application platform as well as a document server.

  • Signals

The use of RSS technology to rapidly notify users of content changes.

The web 2.0 web design will allow better collaboration between the investigators working on different cases. The design will allow advanced information sharing between the investigators assigned to that specific case. The web tier will have web security features that will make it secure such as password and biometrics. This function will be demonstrated in the play during the stage when the two investigators are phoning each other and communicating from a remote location.

*INSTANT MESSAGING

System will Generate Alerts for Various Events

The system will also make use of alerts or flags to remind the user of certain business events. The alert will be in a form of a pop up that will be displayed on the screen with the information that the investigator needs to be reminded of. This function will also be optional to an investigator as to whether they want to use it and to what extent do they want to receive alerts on their profile. The system will make use of alerts for the following business events:

When the time that has been allocated for a case is getting closer. When there are significant developments in a specific case. To remind the investigator of future scheduled events.
